Manchester Landscaping

Would NOT recommend, came across Manchester landscaping on Facebook after numerous searches, asked him to come round to give me a quote early January which he was happy enough to do, few days later he got back with a quote of £3500, I said I wasn’t happy paying that so he put the price down to £2500 with less quality artificial grass but I agreed as I just wanted it done. Around a week later he was messaging asking for a deposit of £1500 (stupid of me to give it I know but I did because I trust people not to scam) it took numerous messages for weeks / months for him to come round, kept putting it off now he had the deposit. When he did come round he digged half the garden up said he would come round and finish it off the next day but never did. Around a week later he said he would order the paving slabs which arrived a few days later which was left outside my house on the road for 2/3 days as he said he wasn’t available to move them and I couldn’t move them on my own. After continuous messages now on WhatsApp after I found his number because he blocked me on Facebook he said he would come back which he did weeks later to lay the paving stones doing half a job, not even finishing it correctly, we are now in May after he said it would be finished feb/April latest. To then asking for the remaining money before he finishes the job which I declined and decided not to let him finish the job, so ended up paying £1500 for the smallest paving stone area and half the garden ripped up which I asked for some money back which he agreed said he would send it which again resulting in never sending it regardless of asking numerous times.

I was initially very happy with the quote to lay a patio and asked for the patio to be extended as I have a large garden. The works were completed in January and April and I paid promptly as I was happy with the work on an initial inspection. Sometime between February and April (likely early February time), I had a knock at my door late one evening. It was the owner of the skip hire company which we used In January explaining that he had not been paid and that he would put all the rubbish on my drive if I didn’t pay. I explained I had given the money to Manchester landscaping and that I would chase it up. I contacted Manchester landscaping and they explained it had been paid, the skip hire company did not agree. After a few days and numerous messages, ending in me threatening not to continue with the work; it was finally paid. I wanted to have the work finished by the same person and it was already booked in so, they came back in April to finish it off. I accepted the incident above as a mistake but I made it clear I was not happy about it. However since this time there has been a number of issues: 1. A paving slab has been left outside my house. I messaged to let them know the day after they finish and they promised to pick this up - this has not happened and the front of my house looks a mess and I am unable to move it in my own;2. My gravel driveway is littered with bricks and rubble;3. The soil area for turf in the garden is littered with bricks and rubble; and 4. The extended patio has been laid in a different pattern to that laid in January. I messaged Manchester landscaping to explain my frustrations on 13 May and they said it would be sorted. Point 4 above was completely ignored. I could understand that this cannot be fixed but an apology would be nice - I just hope no one notices. Points 2 and 3 have been really problematic because It has delayed my ability to sort the grass and this has caused my real frustrations. I have even put the rubble from the soil in a tonne bag in my garden and explained that this just needs to be removed and the drive sorted so that I don’t have to pay for it. Regardless of numerous messages (some heated on my behalf I admit after being ignored) and promises to come and fix it - I am still waiting. I have been reluctant to leave a bad review because I would never want to harm anyone’s business or bring trouble to my door, but it would not be right for this to happen to someone else. I have been nice and that has been taken for granted. I really wish I didn’t pay because there no incentive to fix this and I will have to spend more money (on top of the £2,000 already paid) and time to fix this issue. My drive way is a mess compared to my neighbours, I have a tonne bag full of rubble in my garden with no means of moving it and patio slabs laid in different patterns. Had the back garden paved with Indian Stone and raised beds made with sleepers. Shed was moved to the bottom of the garden to open up the space. Luke and Rob did a great job and come highly recommended. Also rubbish was removed and was left clean and tidy.
